Born in Porto Alegre (Brazil). Started to play guitar at the recent age of 9 years. At age 14 began to play the bass guitar and made himself a name recording and performing with most diverse formations in southern Brazil.Dudu Penz moved to Switzerland in 1986 continuing his carrier performing with most diverse groups and artists in countless festivals, jazz clubs and theatres throughout the world such as:Montreux Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz , Jazz Festival Bern, Ronnie Scotts London, Queen Elisabeth Hall London, New Morning Paris, Pavartoti and friends, Umbria Jazz, Istambul Jazz Festival, Jazz Lives festival Syiria, San Javier jazz, Couleur Café festival Brussels, Philips Dubai Jazz Festival, Roskilde Music Festival , April jazz festival finland, Paris Jazz Festival etc…As recording musician and peformer Dudu Penz has played with include:Rodrigo Botter Maio&Jazz via Brasil Group, Julio Barretto Latino world Quartet, Queen of salsa “Celia Cruz”european tour, Luciano Pavarotti on Pavarotti and friends 2007, Cheo Feliciano, Ademir Cândido quintet, Leny Andrade, Bossa Legends, Chico Freeman, Tony Martinez&Cuban Power featuring Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Mercadonegro, Alfredo de la Fé, Brazilian trombone legend “Raul de Sousa”, New York Salsa all stars, Jimmy Bosch, David Valentin, Giovanni Hidalgo,”Different Moods, José Alberto “el Canário”, Tito Nieves, Michael Mossman-Kim Barth project and many others,Dudu Penz give regulary workshops of brazilian music on diverse music high schools such: Jazz schule Luzern, conservatoire de Fribourg, Nürnberg hochschule, EJMA Lausane.
